  • Prehistory

When I was searching for an interesting topic for my diploma thesis in February 2004, FREQUENTIS Graz offered me to join their team of developers. At this time they were working on some image processing algorithms for application in a project where a lot of different companies were involved, the InfoA10-Project. After I finished my diploma thesis and our team installed the image processing system for this project in December 2004 I decided to continue my studies on image processing algorithms for a doctoral thesis.
During my studies I focused my attention on the development of different image processing algorithms, especially for robust vehicle detection, recognition and characterization. An important aspect was the real-time applicability of these algorithms and the possibility to implement them on a DSP platform. As I was interested in the application of algorithms in a real-world environment it was also important to keep an eye on the applicability of a whole bundle of algorithms on pictures taken at daytime AND at nighttime.

  • Activities and Goals

Currently I'm working in the field of Computer Vision for application on handheld mobile devices. In the past I wrote a lot of algorithms for DSPs. Now I'm investigating their usability in the context of mobile phones and PDAs.
